Certification of Educational Center

International SEK Pacífico School is formally recognized by the Education Ministry of the Republic of Chile for teaching Early Childhood Education, Elementary School and High School , by the Humanistic -Scientific Program of study. In addition to this, our school has the following certifications:

  • Our school is a Cambridge English Language Assessment Exam Preparation Centre
    • Starters, level Pre-A1, for students of 4° grade of Elementary School
    • Movers,  level A1, for students of 6° grade of Elementary School
    • Flyers, level A2, for students of 8° grade of Elementary School
    • Key, level A2, for students of 1° grade of High School
    • Preliminary, level B1, for students of 2° grade of High School
    • First, level B2, for students of 3° and 4° grade of High School
    • Advanced, level C1, for students of 4° grade of High School

Early Childhood Education, it’s the first level of our education system and it has like a prime aim to give a interdisciplinary education of quality that promotes significant learning for the complete development for the students together with family and in a setting of principles that are reflected in our institutional ideology. In this starting phase, SEK School set up an 80% bilingual curriculum, this provides to the children an early immersion in the learning of two languages and reinforces their ability to get on in a global world.

In our Institution, the purposes of our Early Childhood Education are agreed with the IB goals and it can be distinguished the following points:

– To create safe, healthy and stimulating circles that promote confidence and curiosity in the students and in this way to boost their active learning and to develop essential abilities fort their future.

– To start the construction of principles of the students with the family, for promoting the development of universal values and respect for any kind of people, for cultivating global citizens that are involved with the peace and the intercultural understanding.

– To promote the assessment of student’s personal features , to foster a positive image from themself and the respect to others.

– To make easier important learnings that boost of interest for learning, to foter the development of comunication skills, critical thinking, and cooperation. In this phase, it is introduced the knowledge and use of digital tools in order to develop thinking and bases to robotics.

– To secure an inclusive learnings, with the purpose to respect cultural, gender, social and linguistic diversities according to holistic and inclusive approach of Primary Years Programme (PYP) from IB.

– To support the transition of students to Elementary School, in order to develop requiered skills and attitudes for their academic future.

– To promote the active familiar involvement in the educational process, to guarantee a consistent collaboration that reinforce the complete student’s develop.

– To foster collaboration with educational community to create optimal requierements for suporting the complete education for children.

In this way, Early Childhood Education, together with principle of IB, stipulates a educational framework that promote the whole develop of the children, in order to prepare them to be committed, responsable and creative citizens with the global world.

Elementary School, which includes grades 1° to 8th grade, is a stage of a lot of energy in which the students learn very quickly and show remarkable creativity. In this process, families play a significant role in order to keep a very strong emotional bond with their children.  This environment helps with the pedagogical labor of our school, who seeks to provide a deep, long-lasting and interdisciplinary education, for giving the fundamental tools for complete growth of each student.

In this phase, the curriculum is made in a bilingual way to 4th grade, which allows the students an early immersion in two languages, to promote the ability to develop in a global world. As of 5th grade, the students go on improving their linguistic skills and communicative abilities in that language.

In the High School,  from 1° grade to 4° grade, the students carry on developing their learning in an interdisciplinary way, in a constructive and motivational area that can reinforce their principles, at the same time it encourages consciousness and responsibility in front of numerous challenges that nowadays have the complicated diverse reality. The students take two common years, then they can choose elective subjects by framework of our scientific-humanist education.

In this way, the students can choose a Humanist programme that consists of Economic and Society, Geography, Territory and Social Environmental challenges Literature and Writing Workshops, and a Scientific-Mathematical programme with subjects such as: Biology of Ecosystems, Cellular Biology, Limits, Derivatives and Integrals, Probabilities and Statistics, Physics and Chemistry.

In the last two years, the approach is the key element to consolidate educational achievements, that allows the students connect  and put on the acquired knowledge in a variety of areas which guide them to do a full life project. This curriculum model favours project planning and a set of rules which favour the interdisciplinary, that allows the union of knowledge and the students are able to develop abilities beyond the boundaries of academic limits, in order to push forward their critical thinking, creativity and skills to solve difficulties.

IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)

In order to fulfill a special education  with a first class quality for all our students, the SEK International School has the agreement to develop the skills of this century, it is supporting the inquiry by the use of conceptual understanding and the approach of learning and teaching to define an international mindset. Our goal is to prepare persons that will be able to adapt to a global and local world. which is constantly changing, a world that requires people with skills to solve troubles, take resolutions and think in a creative and critical way, people that want to collaborate, communicate and learn in a constant way and mostly to make connections with the knowledge.

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) introduced in our School,  is an essential tool to develop these skills by a transdisciplinary approach. PYP is based in a constructivist philosophy and puts the students in the center of their learning, to foster a complete development in and outside of the classroom. The programme ends with a student’s presentation where they can demonstrate their skills, attitudes, attribute of profile, approach of learning, investigation techniques, so that students have the leading role of their learning together with their tutors.

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is dedicated for children aged 3 -10 and promotes investigation and critical and global thoughts. The PYP curriculum consists of six  transdisciplinary topics. The teachers design investigation units which conform different spheres of knowledge and support the development of skills, attitudes and principles in according to the profile of the IB learning community, a group of essential values that leads the pedagogical approach of the International Baccalaureate Organization.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Program

The IB Diploma Programme is realized in the last three years in the normal programme of education of our School. By this programme, the students develop not only academic and advanced skills, but also a thoughtful, ethical and committed attitude with their environment and global challenges.

The DP is an educational programme of high quality that is directioned to students from 16 to 18 years old, that gives an accurate academic education and a comprehensive education experience.

The DP curriculum is made up of six groups of subjects, which reach the fields of Language and Literature, Foreign Languages, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics and Art. Furthermore, the students must complete three fundamental main components:  Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity Services (CAS) and the Monograph. These components provide a holistic approach that promotes critical thinking, independent learning and the reflection about acquired knowledge.

From 2019, our Center is an authorized School to impart International Baccalaureate that allows us to offer DP programmes to our students and provide an education of international level that fosters critical thinking, creativity and social responsibility, to prepare our young people for facing successfully future challenges.

The IB approach is focused on the student and for fostering active learning and reflection, complementing and reinforcing the pedagogical goals of our Institution.

The first aim of this Programme is the students must to establish their autonomy, to use their freedom in a conscious active way, this is a IB basic principle that promotes self-sufficient thinking and their own learning. The second aim is to train responsable students, that are able of answering not only by themselves but also to assume responsibility for others, for fostering values like generosity, loyalty and integrity.

Another essential pedagogical aim is the important transmission of knowledge that is useful as a basis to develop the talents and personal interests of the students with special emphasis in the use of technological tools. This approach promotes the getting of some skills and important knowledge for a changeable global world.

Technical pedagogical regulations

The rules of Evaluation and school promotion (class) of Sek Pacifico International School is defined by norms come from Ministry of Education of Chile through which authorize educational institutions for creating of their own rules of Evaluation and Promotion and is based on the following orders:

* Decree N° 107/03 that approve the Regulation of Evaluation and School Promotion of Girls and Boys from Middle School from 1° a 4° grade.

* Decree N° 67/18 that approve the Minimun National Rules of Evaluation, Mark-Grading and Promotion.

The Regulations of the School Evaluation was created in based on legal orders, previously mentioned, and with contribution of Pedagogical Council and School Teacher Council.
